Stunning fruit from a block of 15 year old Marsanne plantings in Colbinabbin, located on the banks of the Waranga-Mallee Irrigation Channel. 2018 was an early harvest, handpicked on 16 February, the fruit was transported directly to the winery to be processed that afternoon.
The whole bunches were lightly pressed to avoid potentially oily Marsanne characteristics and to promote freshness and bring ‘younger’ and cleaner flavours to the 2018 Vintage.
Fermented in stainless steel, the wine was then transferred in to four 2 and 3 year old French oak Barriques. Some of the barrels were allowed to go through Malolactic fermentation, with some held back to promote freshness and hints of acidity. By mid-May, the wine was racked off lees and transferred to stainless where it was cold stabilised. Bottling took place in late May.
Bright marshmallow on the incredibly vibrant nose, a true Marsanne without the thick, oily mouthfeel. The palate is a dance of honeysuckle and cantaloupe.
