Stunning fruit from a block of 15 year old Marsanne plantings in Colbinabbin, located on the banks of the Waranga-Mallee Irrigation Channel.  2018 was an early harvest, handpicked on 16 February, the fruit was transported directly to the winery to be processed that afternoon.

The whole bunches were lightly pressed to avoid potentially oily Marsanne characteristics and to promote freshness and bring ‘younger’ and cleaner flavours to the 2018 Vintage.

Fermented in stainless steel, the wine was then transferred in to four 2 and 3 year old French oak Barriques. Some of the barrels were allowed to go through Malolactic fermentation, with some held back to promote freshness and hints of acidity. By mid-May, the wine was racked off lees and transferred to stainless where it was cold stabilised. Bottling took place in late May.

Bright marshmallow on the incredibly vibrant nose, a true Marsanne without the thick, oily mouthfeel. The palate is a dance of honeysuckle and cantaloupe.

"15yo vines, whole-bunch pressed, fermented in tank and then transferred to used French barriques. Still to transition to a mature wine (3-5 years down the track), but looks to have potential." James Halliday, score: 89 points (Bronze).

"Pale in the glass, with some green tints. Green melon, honey and a nutty, wheatiness on the nose. The flavours are textured, round and viscous, with stone fruit, melon and vanilla. Acidity is firm and keeps the wine balanced." Aaron Brasher, score: 86 points (Bronze).
