Shiraz fruit from four premium vineyards running North to South along the Heathcote Faultline were blended to create this ‘Cambrian Rise’ Shiraz. The four vineyards were located in Colbinabbin (25%), Toolleen (5%), Heathcote (45%) and Kimbolton (25%). All vineyards were harvested by hand between late-February and mid-March and all fruit was transported directly to the winery the same day it was picked.

Using a combination of French (45%) and American (55%) oak Barriques, using 20% new American oak. All barrels were allowed to go through Malolactic fermentation in mid-2018. A second racking occurred in late 2018, followed by cross flow filtration and bottling in December 2019. The wine was not fined.

Juicy black raspberry, sage and allspice. Opulent mulberries, spectacular structural integrity with a dense, silken finish.

"Sourced from 4 vineyards running north to south. Fruit from each vineyard was fermented separately in small, open fermenters, racked into French (45%) and American (55% including 20% new) oak barriques, mlf, 20 months' maturation, not fined. Made with further ageing in mind, such is the tightness and structure of this wine. A fragrant young wine with complex aromas and flavours of plums, berries, spice and oak seamlessly folded in. Intense with length and a degree of elegance. Give it the time it deserves." Jeni Port for Hallidays, score: 92 points (Silver).

"Inky black core with a deep dark purple black tinged hue. Intense liquorice, ripe black cherry and blackberry scents waft from the glass mixing with vanillin cedar, fennel and pepper along the way. Leaning towards the fuller side but not as heavy or flamboyant as the 2016 vintage, the medium to full bodied palate has a rich serving of black cherry, liquorice and blackberry fruits which have a luscious feel. Mildly toasted vanillin oak, fennel and pepper elements ensue. Sturdy yet finely grained tannins lend some finesse to the long almost refined aftertaste. Drink over the next 5-6 years." Nicks Wine Merchants, score: 94 points.

" Purple colour with inky centre, a perfumed and peppery bouquet. Elevated flavours of dark berries, red vermouth, pepper and vanilla cream. Full-bodied with chewy tannin and a grippy finish." Amanda Yallop for The Real Review, score: 87 points (Bronze).
